Complementary cancer therapy: add, do not replace

Complementary measures may be useful when they are medically reviewed, coordinated with standard therapy and do not delay necessary treatments.

What can be complementary?

Depending on the situation, this may include supportive medicine, exercise, nutritional therapy, treatment of deficiencies, psycho-oncology, symptom control and, in specialised concepts, immunological approaches.

Why coordination matters

Complementary measures can also interact with chemotherapy, radiotherapy, immunotherapy or surgery. Medicines, supplements and immunomodulatory approaches should be considered together with the treatment team.

Immunological diagnostics

An immune status can describe selected cell populations such as T cells, B cells, NK cells and monocytes. It does not replace a blood count, imaging or tumour pathology.
