Modern oncology increasingly takes histology, molecular markers, disease dynamics, previous treatments and individual patient factors into account.
Level 1: Tumour Biology
Histology, molecular profiles, tumour markers and imaging describe the type, extent and biological characteristics of a tumour.
Level 2: Immune System
Immunological tests can additionally show how selected immune-cell populations are composed and how they change over time.
Level 3: Dynamics
Several comparable measurement points can make developments visible. Individual values should never be interpreted in isolation as success or failure.
Level 4: Treatment Decision
The actual treatment decision results from the interplay of guidelines, biomarkers, clinical condition, patient preferences and individual medical assessment.
